Childhood without violence – improvement of the system of child protection in Eastern Europe

The project is implemented in six countries: Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, and Ukraine


Partners of the project:

  • Nobody's children Foundation (Poland);
  • Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports;
  • State Social Service for family, children and youth


Aim: To improve the professional competence of specialists who work with children who suffered from violence, and also shape public attitudes towards the problem of child abuse.


Activities in 2012:

  • Conduction of the trainings for social sphere practitioners concerning the work with parents on issues of responsible parenting;
  • Conduction of the local supervisions on issues of child abuse;
  • Conduction of the international supervision with the aim to exchange the experience on the field of child violence and neglect prevention;
  • Publishing materials of the educational materials about child abuse prevention for parents and professionals, who work with children.


Project objectives
:

  • Educating the society, broadening public knowledge about prevention of child abuse and neglect, and improving intervention opportunities.
  • Changing parents and caregivers' attitudes associated with child rearing and child protection.
  • Diagnosing attitudes, knowledge and skills of Eastern Europe's professionals working with abused children and improving their competencies through training programs, supervisions, site visits, publications and research.
  • Working out regional standards and solutions in the field of child abuse and neglect, based on proven strategies used in other countries and by more experienced organizations participating in the project.
  • Lobbying (in the Parliaments, state governments and local authorities) for the introduction of legislative amendments necessary for changing and implementing social policies that would ensure effective child protection.
