CCF Ukraine works in accordance with main program areas defined in the Strategic Plan for 2005-2007:
Implementing the principles and regulations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in real life
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by Ukraine in the first years of its independence, emphasizes that it is necessary to create adequate conditions for the life, protection and development of children. This also applies to 14 000 juvenile delinquents and about 7000 children who, according to the statistics of the Internal Affairs Ministry, are victims of different forms of violence.
CCF Ukraine directs its efforts at improving the professional skills of those people, who in their practical work could protect the basic rights of children, and for this purpose carry out the following activities:
Building the capacity of communities and the public with the aim of preventing poverty and homelessness, and solving social problems of children and families
It is impossible to achieve the Millennium Goals, which are reference points for all nations by 2015, without the participation of communities. This is also true for solving social problems and improving conditions for children and families, first of all, preventing poverty and protecting public health.To develop the potential of communities and to involve them in creating an environment, favorable to children, CCF carries out the following activities:
Improving parenting skills of Ukrainian families
The most favorable environment for a child's growth and development is the family. This statement needs no proof. However, at present the Ukrainian family needs support, due to the lack of parenting skills even children from successful families do not always get the necessary attention, support and understanding from their families. Besides, special attention should be given to almost 100 000 orphans and children without parental care, living and being brought up in state residential institutions.
